​30th October 2018 -  Titans have been re accredited as a Gold CAPS Club within the England Netball structure. The highest level award that can be achieved for any Netball Club. This prestigious accreditation is only given to Clubs who can demonstrate that they are offering a good quality netball provision within their community. 

 Thunder had  a shaky start and Hovelands accurate shooters gave them the advantage early on. But it didn't last long. After about 10 minutes Ruth Chamings and Daisy Totterdell disrupted passages of play and we capitalised to have a 5 goal lead at the first break.  The game was played at a faster pace than recently and Lucy Burnett and Nicole Lathwell worked well off the ball to create space in attack.  In the 2nd quarter Hovelands changed their defensive set up but Thunder adapted, and it felt that Thunder were winning it easily with many turnovers (lots of breaking from Hovelands on centre passes helped too), but whenever Hovelands had the ball, they must have scored, as Thunder only matched their first quarter scoreline. At half time Lucy had a well-deserved rest and Katrina Venner was recovered enough to take to the court. She couldn't pass to Lorraine Cleverdon Brend for the first three balls, but that improved thankfully! Louise Lathwell and Cleverdon Brend shooting was superb and the communication between Nicole and Kat enabled them to get the ball to the circle edge. The defence continued to pick up ball and Rowan Fitzsimmons read the game brilliantly to make off-line interceptions.  Thunder extended their lead to 17 goals going into the final quarter.  In the final quarter, Thunder made more changes, and Hovelands tried yet another defensive strategy, although Thunder worked the ball through the mid and end court zones effectively, with many short passes and 1-2's, they couldn't quite finish it off, and the many tips landed in the opponents hands or great interceptions were fumbled. The pressure was off and although the effort level didn't decrease, Thunder couldn't quite replicate the previous quarters and list the final quarter by one goal. The final score was a superb win 48-32.  Rowan Fitzsimmons was voted player from Hovelands and Daisy Totterdell was vote by Thunder.  Once again a great team effort.Team Line up:  Daisy Totterdell, Ruth Chamings, Rowan Fitzsimmons, Lucy Burnett, Lorraine Cleverdon Brend, Nicole Lathwell, Louise Lathwell & Katrina Venner. 

Lightning travelled to Winterbourne in Bristol without two key players - Beth Nancekivell & Clare Wilmott. The warm up started slow, due to one car load arriving late and players were sliding everywhere due to the court being so dusty. Captain Michelle noticed that Crossbow players were spraying Hairspray on the bottom of their trainers, and with quick thinking asked if Titans could borrow some, to ensure a good grip on court! Titans started well in the first quarter, leading in the first 5 minutes, converting their centre passes/errors in to goals. Soon Crossbow stepped up and there physical marking, put Lightning to the test. Titans came off 4 goals down. For the 2nd quarter Michelle Sampson & Rebecca Manley swapped positions, but unfortunately Titans were unable to get into a rhythm, with many errors throughout the court, and Crossbow defence applied extra pressure on Grace Wilton & Emily Risdon, stopping them from achieving goals needed, and having to put up long range shots. At half time, Titans were now down by 6 goals. For the 3rd quarter, Crossbow changed their team slightly, which made it more challenging for Lightning. We were unable to get the ball into the net and made several errors. Crossbow capitalised on our mistakes, and took a lead of 13 goals. For the 4th quarter, and may be a little too late, but everyone was determined to get a win for the final quarter and gain back some faith in the team. Standing up tall and strong, and not to be ruled by Crossbow. Poppy Sampson swapped in the centre role, putting Michelle back into Goal Defence and Rebecca into Wing Attack. We started the quarter with a goal, and with some fine pressure from the defence of Michelle, Amber & Jo, forced Crossbow to make errors. Poppy kept up the pace with her opponent and linked well with Rebecca to find Emily & Grace in the shooting circle, in which regained their confidence, and popping the ball into the net.  We won the final quarter.Final score 48-38 to Crossbow. 19th October 2018. Titans held their 2nd Auction of Promises Event with phenomenal success, with £4710.01 monies raised. Auctioneers Lorraine Beel & Sam Roulstone were in their element at the helm of the evening, to auction off the 92 items that were on offer. Ranging from Golf Days, Massages, Weekend Breaks, to delicious cakes and bottles of Gin. There was something on offer for all to buy. The raffle alone, took in £205. A cake stall was set up as well, with the proceeds going to the North Devon Hospice, in memory of their Titans Coach - Jo Elliott.  Titans held the event, alongside Bideford Cricket Club, to enable both clubs to raise funds, in which will see Titans taking over £2k.  A big thank you to all that donated a 'Promise' and supported the event. A cracking success for Titans. 

14th October 2018 -   Titans U14's travelled down to Paignton to participate in the Seeding Tournament, to determine which Division they would compete in for the forthcoming season.  No expectations were on the cards to reach Division One, but the girls pulled it out the bag, to net themselves a phenomenal First Division spot for this forthcoming season. We started our campaign out against Lovell Titans Warriors, and even though we had plenty of passage of play, we were unable to capitalise on our possession, to sink the goals in the net.  Lovell pulled away to take the first game 13-4.  We dusted ourselves off, and took to the court for our 2nd game v Wimbourne.  We started brightly and held our opposition goal for goal. Daisy Harrison & Lucie Davey were dependable in the defensive circle, to enable fine interceptions and give our attacking unit a fighting chance.  It was only in the last few minutes that Wimbourne pulled away to take the win 14-9.  Next we took on the first team from Cornwall, Saints Rockets.  We started strongly, and everyone was working well as a unit.  Kitty Sampson was producing superb accurate long balls in to her shooters, and Lillie Sealey and Eden Cornish were finding the net with ease.  Everyone on the court worked well together as a team, in which ensued to a fine win, 14-10. We next faced Team Jets from Jersey. Lilly Lark performed to her best, playing in a defensive role of Wing Defence, and took their player out of the game. Lucie & Daisy continued to intercept the ball with ease, to bring the ball up the court to Eleanor Roome & Ellie Heard to feed the shooters.  It was certainly a nail biting affair for all to watch, as with only a couple minutes on the clock, we managed to keep our noses in the lead, to take the win by a single goal 12-11.   Having finished 3rd in our group, we then had to take on the 3rd place team from another group, to see who would take the prized spot in Division One.  With growing confidence, we took on Somerset side of Keinton. We started so strongly on court.  Everyone played their part, and Player of the Day Lillie Sealey brought confidence to her shooting, to sink the shots with ease. Eden Cornish was shooting accurately too, to enable a comfortable 7 to 1 goal lead at half time.  This enabled changes at half time, so all 9 players could take to the court.  It was such a proud moment for all Coaches to watch the girls see out the game to take the win with ease 11-4.    Team Line Up: Megan Burnell, Eleanor Roome, Ellie Heard, Lily Lark, Kitty Sampson, Daisy Harrison, Lucie Davey, Lillie Sealey & Eden Cornish

Yet another great game by Titans Thunder. Tor Knights came out strong and Kat's injury was worse than expected, so she couldn't drive through the middle like she would normally, making it difficult for Titans to penetrate. Kiara came on after the break and she & Paula worked superbly to disrupt their attack. Thunder couldn't quite capitalise and remained 6 goals down at half time. Knights made changed and Thunder pushed hard in the 3rd quarter. Rowan made many interceptions and great patient play in attack complimented with accurate shooting enable Thunder to close the gap to one goal. In the final quarter Knights reverted to their original attacking line up and hit Thunder hard in the first five minutes. Thunder never gave up, but errors crept in, and the opportunities were reduced, so they couldn't prevent a 44-53 defeat.Player of the Match plaudits went to Kiara Clarke (from Tor Knights) and Lucy Burnett (from Titans)Team Line Up: Kiara Clarke, Paula Young, Rowan Fitzsimmons, Katrina Venner, Lucy Burnett, Nicole Lathwell, Lorraine Cleverdon Brend & Louise Lathwell. 

Lightning took the initial lead in their home fixture against the quality side of Team Bath. The first quarter was fast and furious, and errors were made by both teams, as they found their rhythm. Team Bath closed down space in the centre court, forcing some long passes by Lightning. Grace (GA) and Emily (GS) shot accurately, however Team Bath narrowed the margin and took the lead by one goal at the end of the first quarter (11-12). The 2nd quarter was equally as exciting, with both teams fighting tirelessly for possession. Team Bath made centre passes difficult, forcing Jo (WD) to assist in centre court. The score line was neck and neck throughout the quarter. Amber (GK) and Poppy (GD) synchronised effortlessly in defence, minimising opportunities for Team Bath's tall Goal Shooter to score. Team Bath were rattled and Titans were able to take advantage of Team Bath's errors. Becka (WA) fed many accurate long balls into Emily and Grace.  At half time it was still only a margin of one goal. (23-34).  Despite a caution and warning being issued to Team Bath's WD for delaying play, both teams fought hard in the 3rd quarter. The score line was neck and neck throughout and Beth (C) worked hard to bring the ball down the court. Game play was scrappy and it was evident both teams were hungry for the win. The 3rd quarter ended with Team Bath marginally in the lead, still by one goal (34-35).  As both teams took to the court for the final quarter, Team Bath took advantage of the initial errors made by Lightning. Despite Titan's efforts and exceptional team play, Team Bath increased to a 7 goal lead midway through the quarter. With dedication and drive, Titans managed to pull the score line within 4 goals, but Team Bath took the win with a final score of 47-43.Player of the Match plaudits went to Emily Risdon (from Team Bath) and Jo Nancekivell (from Titans)Team Line Up: Amber Manley, Poppy Sampson, Jo Nancekivell, Beth Nancekivell, Rebecca Manley, Grace Wilton & Emily Risdon.

6th October 2018 -  Titans certainly took plenty of the silverware at the League Awards, held at the Cedars Inn in Barnstaple.
